General Questions
BIDnDRIVE is an online auction platform for buying and selling vehicles. We connect buyers and sellers in a transparent, secure marketplace with features like SafePay escrow protection, vehicle shipping, and financing options.
Sellers pay a success fee of 5% when their vehicle sells (minimum Ksh 10,000). Buyers pay a 2.5% SafePay fee on the final sale price (minimum Ksh 5,000) and 2.5% buyers commission. We also offer optional services like featured listings and vehicle shipping.
Yes, BIDnDRIVE is available throughout Kenya. We also offer shipping services to neighboring countries including Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia.
You can buy and sell cars, SUVs, trucks, motorcycles, and commercial vehicles. Vehicles must be roadworthy and less than 25 years old, with some exceptions for classic cars.
Buying Questions
- Register for a free account
- Browse or search for vehicles
- Place bids on vehicles you're interested in. You should have a minimum of Ksh. 20,000 as auction security deposit to be able to bid.
- If you win, use SafePay to securely transfer payment
- Arrange vehicle pickup or shipping
- Customer has to inspect the vehicle immediately after delivery is done, 30-1 hour must confirm.
Buyers have the option to book a professional inspection through the BIDnDRIVE Inspection Service before initiating their bids.
Yes, all buyers have a 3-business-day inspection period after receiving the vehicle. During this time, you can have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic. If the vehicle doesn't match the description, you can return it for a full refund.
Once you win an auction, you're legally obligated to complete the purchase. Failure to do so may result in account suspension and forfeiture of any deposit. However, if you discover during the inspection period that the vehicle doesn't match the description, you can return it for a full refund.
Selling Questions

- Click "Sell Your Car" and complete the listing form
- Upload photos and vehicle details
- Set your reserve price (optional)
- Submit for approval
- Once approved, we will request the complete vehicle details, including comprehensive specifications and high-quality professional photographs. Upon final verification and confirmation, the vehicle will be listed and the auction will go live for a 7-day period
- When it sells, we handle payment through SafePay
It's free to list your vehicle. You only pay when your vehicle sells. The seller fee is 5% of the final sale price (minimum Ksh 10,000). There are no listing fees or monthly charges.
A reserve price is the minimum price you're willing to accept for your vehicle. If bidding doesn't reach this price, you're not obligated to sell. You can set a reserve price or choose to sell with no reserve (auction sells to the highest bidder regardless of price).
After the buyer receives and approves the vehicle (1 hour inspection period), we release payment to you via bank transfer. Payment is typically processed within 24 hours of buyer approval.
SafePay Questions
SafePay is our escrow payment protection system. It holds the buyer's payment securely until they receive and approve the vehicle. This protects both buyers (from getting a vehicle that doesn't match the description) and sellers (from non-payment).
SafePay fees are paid by the buyer:
- Up to Ksh 500,000: 2.5%
- Ksh 500,001 - 2,000,000: 2.0%
- Over Ksh 2,000,000: 1.5%
Buyers have 1 hour to inspect the vehicle after taking delivery. During this period, the payment is held in escrow. If the buyer approves the vehicle, we release payment to the seller. If not, we refund the buyer.
Yes, all transactions on BIDnDRIVE must use SafePay. This ensures protection for both buyers and sellers and maintains the integrity of our marketplace.
Shipping Questions
Yes, we offer vehicle shipping throughout Kenya and to neighboring countries. We work with trusted transport companies to provide open transport, enclosed transport, and driveaway services.
Shipping costs vary based on distance, vehicle type, and shipping method:
- Open transport: Ksh 15,000 - 45,000
- Enclosed transport: Ksh 40,000 - 100,000+
- Driveaway service: Ksh 25,000 - 60,000
Yes, all shipments include basic insurance coverage. For additional protection, you can purchase premium insurance at an extra cost. We recommend taking photos of your vehicle before shipping and conducting a thorough inspection upon delivery.
Delivery times vary:
- Within Nairobi: 1-2 days
- Major cities: 3-5 days
- Remote areas: 5-7 days
- International: 7-14 days
Financing Questions
Yes, we offer financing through our partner banks and financial institutions. You can get pre-approved before you bid, so you know exactly what you can afford.
Interest rates vary based on credit score and other factors:
- Excellent (750+): 8.9% - 10.5% APR
- Good (700-749): 10.6% - 12.9% APR
- Fair (650-699): 13.0% - 15.9% APR
- Average (600-649): 16.0% - 19.9% APR
We work with lenders who can approve applicants with credit scores as low as 600. However, scores of 650+ typically receive the best interest rates and terms.
Minimum down payment is 10% of the vehicle price. A larger down payment (20% or more) can help you secure better loan terms and lower monthly payments.
Account & Bidding Questions
Yes, registering for a BIDnDRIVE account is completely free. There are no monthly fees or membership charges.
To place a bid:
- Find a vehicle you want to bid on
- Make auction security deposit and get account Approval
- Click "Place Bid"
- Enter your maximum bid amount
- Confirm your bid
Once placed, bids cannot be cancelled unless there's an obvious error (like bidding Ksh 1,000,000 instead of Ksh 100,000). In such cases, contact support immediately. Otherwise, bids are legally binding.
Log into your account, click on your profile name in the top right corner, and select "Account Settings." From there you can update your contact information, password, notification preferences, and payment methods.
